It looks like Hoboken will be green after all on March 14th - even if the St Patricks Day Parade was cancelled!!
The city of Hoboken reported today that on March 14th, 2012 starting at 4p.m., the city will host the first of what is to be an annual Irish Cultural Festival.
In a press release it was cited that after the cancellation of the parade, a number of residents contacted the city to volunteer and organize a grassroots celebration of Irish culture while providing entertainment for the entire community to enjoy.
The Irish Cultural Festival is free and will be held from 4p.m.-10p.m. at Frank Sinatra Park. There will be music performances and food plus sports and dance and it is open to all ages.
Proceeds will benefit the Hoboken Shelter for the Homeless and the Hoboken American Legion which delivers care packages to our armed forces overseas via the Adopt A Soldier Program.
The schedule is below:
4p.m. Little League Field - Gaelic Hurling and scrimmage
6p.m. Performance by the Traditional Irish Step Dancers
Music Guests: Will O'Connor, George Murphy and Paddy and the Pale Boys
